Although not built to large numbers of the follow-up SD40-2, the EMD SD40 marked the beginning of one of the most popular locomotive types ever built.  The SD40 locomotives were purchased in fairly low numbers by railroads across the United States, but did play an important role in locomotive fleets from the end of the 1960’s well into the 2000’s.  This pack represents the BNSF heritage of these locomotives with liveries spanning BNSF, Santa Fe, and Burlington Northern.
